Strict Ban on Unauthorized Mineral Extraction for Three Months to Protect Resources and Environment

The Punjab government has imposed Section 144 in Attock district, enforcing a strict three-month ban on unauthorized mining to safeguard key mineral reserves and protect the environment.

The Home Department’s order specifically restricts mining activities along the Indus River, covering all minerals, including placer gold, a valuable contributor to the national treasury.

As per the directive, any unauthorized mining and the transport of mining or quarrying equipment along the river are strictly forbidden.

The Punjab Interior Secretary stated that the move aims to tackle illegal extraction activities that pose risks to the region’s mineral resources and ecological balance.

The Punjab Home Department has officially notified the three-month enforcement of Section 144.
