RAWALPINDI: Polio Hits Punjab: First Case Confirmed in Chakwal District This Year,A 6-year-old child from Chakwal has tested positive for polio, marking the first case of the disease in Punjab this year. The confirmation of the polio virus highlights an urgent need for enhanced vaccination efforts.

Dr. Malik Mukhtar Ahmed Bharath, Prime Minister’s Coordinator for National Health, urged parents to prioritize polio vaccination for children under five years old during every campaign.

Polio Virus Detected in Environmental Samples Across Nine Districts

Meanwhile, Ayesha Raza Farooq, Prime Minister’s Focal Person for Polio, has expressed serious concern over the new case. She announced that Pakistan will conduct a thorough investigation into the anti-polio program to develop a more effective strategy for future campaigns in the district.

This case is the 12th polio instance reported in Pakistan this year, underscoring the ongoing challenges in eradicating the disease.
