Punjab Govt Set to Revolutionize Property Transactions for Overseas Pakistanis
LAHORE: The Punjab government is spearheading a historic amendment to the century-old law with aim to ease property transactions for overseas Pakistanis. This initiative will enable Pakistanis residing abroad to buy and sell property without the usual legal hurdles.
According to reliable sources, a draft amendment to Section 31 of the Registration Act 1908 has been prepared. After implementation, overseas Pakistanis will have the option to register their sale deed statements directly at Pakistani embassies abroad. This streamlined process is expected to save them significant time and expenses, estimated in the hundreds of millions of rupees.
Previously, under the outdated law, overseas Pakistanis had to navigate complex legal procedures, including registering power of attorney at embassies and sending documents to Pakistan for property transactions. This amendment aims to eliminate such complexities, ensuring a smoother experience for property transactions while preventing potential fraud.
