ISLAMABAD: The Interior Ministry has presented details in the National Assembly regarding blocked national identity cards over the past five years. According to the ministry, a total of 71,849 identity cards were blocked during this period.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa saw the highest number with 25,981 cards blocked, followed by Punjab with over 13,000 cards, Balochistan with 20,583, and Sindh with 9,677. Additionally, 1,370 cards were blocked in Islamabad, 228 in Gilgit-Baltistan, and 446 in Azad Kashmir.
The ministry further revealed that 44,460 identity cards were unblocked after necessary verification. Currently, 13,618 blocked identity cards remain under investigation.
