Warring tribes in Kurram agree to cease-fire after deadly clashes
The KP Chief Minister’s Adviser on Information announced today that the tribes had agreed to a seven-day ceasefire.
KURRAM: A ceasefire was agreed between warring tribes on Sunday to ease tensions in Kurram.
As per the details, the provincial government of KP also decided to form a high-powered commission to resolve land disputes in the region, as fresh clashes killed 18 more people yesterday.
Violence escalated after Thursday’s deadly attack, where a convoy of about 200 vehicles came under heavy fire in Baghan town, killing at least 64 people.
The KP Chief Minister’s Adviser on Information Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif announced today that the tribes had agreed to a seven-day ceasefire. Both tribes also pledged to return the bodies of the slain and prisoners.

A government delegation met Shia tribal leaders yesterday and Sunni tribal leaders today before returning to Peshawar. Barrister Saif, speaking to foreign media, described the talks as “positive progress in engagement with stakeholders.”
