Pakistan Ready for Meaningful Dialogue with India: PM Shehbaz

High Commissioner Jane Marriott briefed the Prime Minister on her recent visit to London

 Islamabad: (Mudassar Chuhdary) – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reaffirmed Pakistan’s willingness to engage in meaningful and result-oriented dialogue with India to resolve all outstanding bilateral issues.

While speaking to the British High Commissioner to Pakistan, Ms. Jane Marriott, who met him in Islamabad on Wednesday, the Prime Minister expressed his strong desire for peace and stability in the region. He conveyed warm greetings for King Charles III and Prime Minister Keir Starmer and stated that he looks forward to meeting the UK leadership later this year.

PM Shehbaz welcomed the UK’s decision to resume PIA flights between the UK and Pakistan, calling it a much-needed relief for the British Pakistani community. He emphasized that this step would help ease travel-related hardships and enhance people-to-people ties.

On Pakistan-UK bilateral relations, the Prime Minister noted recent positive developments, including successful trade talks and close coordination at forums like the UN Security Council, where Pakistan currently holds the monthly Presidency. He appreciated the UK’s engagement on key regional matters, including the South Asian and Middle Eastern geopolitical landscape.

The British High Commissioner, in return, thanked PM Shehbaz for his hospitality and briefed him on her recent diplomatic engagements in London. She praised Pakistan’s economic performance over the past 18 months, highlighting the improvements under the Prime Minister’s leadership.

Both sides expressed optimism over continued cooperation in trade, diplomacy, and regional peace efforts.
