SNGPL Cracks Down on Gas Pilferers, Disconnects 349 Connections & Imposes Fines

Peshawar & Karak were not spared in the crackdown, with the company disconnecting 130 connections for the direct and illegal use of gas.

Lahore: In a relentless pursuit against gas pilferers, the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) conducted extensive raids across Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Islamabad, resulting in the disconnection of 349 illegal connections. A substantial fine of Rs 5 million was imposed on the violators as part of the crackdown.

In Lahore, the regional team executed a decisive operation by disconnecting 22 connections involved in the illegal use of gas and another 16 connections utilizing compressors unlawfully. The team levied fines totaling Rs 0.44 million against gas theft cases and filed two FIRs. In Rawalpindi, 52 connections were disconnected due to the illegal use of gas, and a fine of Rs 0.35 million was imposed against gas theft cases. Multan witnessed the disconnection of 1 connection for illegal gas usage and 37 connections using compressors, with a total fine of Rs 0.04 million booked against gas theft cases.

Peshawar and Karak were not spared in the crackdown, with the company disconnecting 130 connections for the direct and illegal use of gas, amounting to Rs 3.95 million in fines against gas theft cases. The team also took decisive action by lodging 13 FIRs against gas pilferers. In Sahiwal, nine connections were disconnected due to compressor usage.

Sheikhupura saw the disconnection of 38 connections for the illegal use of gas and 2 connections for compressor usage, with a fine of Rs 0.02 million booked against gas theft cases. The regional team of Sargodha disconnected 1 connection for illegal gas use. In Bahawalpur, 23 connections were disconnected for compressor usage, and a fine of Rs 0.18 million was imposed against gas pilferers. Faisalabad witnessed the disconnection of 6 connections for illegal gas use and 12 connections for compressor usage, along with a fine of Rs 0.03 million against gas theft cases.
