Seven Militants Killed in Counter-Terrorism Operation in Mianwali
CTD reports successful thwarting of planned large-scale attack by "Fitna al-Khawarij" group.
A significant counter-terrorism operation in Mianwali led to the deaths of seven militants associated with the “Fitna al-Khawarij” group, as reported by the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD). Eight other militants managed to escape during the incident.
According to a spokesperson for the CTD, the operation, which was based on intelligence, took place near Makarwal in Mianwali and successfully thwarted a potential large-scale attack. A firefight broke out when CTD officers attempted to apprehend the militants.
During the gunfire exchange, seven militants were reportedly killed, likely due to friendly fire from their own ranks. The remaining eight militants fled into the darkness.
Authorities recovered several weapons and explosive materials from the scene, including six hand grenades, safety fuses, seven Kalashnikov rifles, and ammunition. A search operation is currently in progress to locate the escaped militants.
The CTD spokesperson also indicated that the militants had been planning a significant attack in Mianwali and that a roadblock had been established near Makarwal. Efforts to identify the deceased militants are ongoing.
