KORT’S Rs 560mn HOSPITAL PROJECT IN MIRPUR NEARS COMPLETION,
Mirpur-(Special Correspondent)-Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir, Chaudhry Anwar Haq, has reaffirmed his commitment to the welfare of the people, despite the challenges faced by the state. At the 19th foundation day of Kashmir Orphan Relief Trust (KORT), he emphasized his vision for a prosperous, developed, and socially facilitated Kashmir.
Haq considers his power as a trust from Allah, dedicated to the betterment of the state and its people. To achieve this, he has been working tirelessly to abolish the status quo that has hindered the prosperity of backward and oppressed classes.
A significant step towards this goal is the establishment of a social protection fund, worth 10 billion rupees, which will provide monthly financial assistance to deserving individuals. This fund will support the poor, widows, orphans, divorced, special persons, and eunuchs, with over 190,000 beneficiaries already applying.
Starting next month, 16,000 to 20,000 needy families will receive 10,000 to 15,000 rupees per month through Easy Paisa. This initiative aims to empower the downtrodden sections of society, enabling them to lead dignified lives.
KORT, a charitable organization, has been instrumental in providing essential services, including food, free higher education, and relief to those affected by natural disasters. The organization is building another complex in Swabi and a 560-bed hospital in Mirpur, expected to be completed within three years.
Haq acknowledged the significance of KORT, stating that it showcases the Kashmiri people’s commitment to public welfare and humanity. He assured the organization of full support from the government, including the Prime Minister, Cabinet Ministers, and state missionaries.
The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of serving humanity, citing it as the path to gaining Allah’s pleasure. He praised the people of Azad Kashmir for their open-heartedness and willingness to spend in the way of Allah.
Chaudhry Anwar Haq noted that despite the state’s limited resources, the government is providing a subsidy of 71 billion rupees on flour and electricity. This subsidy aims to alleviate the financial burden on the people, ensuring their social and economic prosperity.
Haq expressed his gratitude to the people of Pakistan for their unwavering support to the citizens of Azad Kashmir. He acknowledged the government of Pakistan’s assistance in various sectors, including reconstruction and provision of funds.
The 19th foundation day of KORT was attended by prominent figures, including Chaudhry Qasim Majeed, Chaudhry Yasir Sultan, Special Assistant Ms. Sabiha Siddique, Former Senior Minister Malik Muhammad Nawaz, and Former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court Chaudhry Muhammad Azam.
Renowned Naat Khan Abdul Razzaq Jami and folk artist Sain Zahoor presented soul-stirring performances, while children from KORT presented Hamad, Naat, drama, and tableau shows.
