Punjab Govt Bans Mobile Phone Use in State-Owned Schools
The guidelines are expected to help create a more focused and organized environment for both students and staff.
LAHORE: The Punjab government has imposed a ban on the use of mobile phones in all government schools across the province, in a move aimed at ensuring discipline and promoting a transparent teaching system.
In a recent notification, the School Education Department outlined a set of 20 guidelines to enforce the new policy, instructing District and Tehsil Education Officers, as well as school heads, to ensure compliance. The guidelines specify that all teachers, students, and non-teaching staff are required to submit their mobile phones to the head teacher during school hours.
Additionally, the new rules mandate that staff members wear dress coats and closed shoes, while both teachers and students must wear name badges for easy identification. The department has also stipulated that all staff and students wear navy blue jerseys, and students are required to follow a standard uniform code.
To further promote structure and order, a timetable board will be displayed at the main entrance of each school, and each class will have a designated class representative. The schools will also install three or four pennants featuring different educational slogans to inspire a positive learning environment.
