PTI’s member Azhar Mashwani finally returns back safe after eight days

Lahore: (Staff Reporter) Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) social media team lead Azhar Mashwani finally returned home safe after eight days, he announced on Twitter.

According to the twitter, he wrote, “With the grace of God, I have reached home safe and sound. I am indebted to you forever for your prayers and good wishes in these eight days. I pray that our other members also get to break their fasts with their families.”

As per details PTI social media team activists, journalists and politicians welcomed Mashwani back on his return. PTI’s social media vowed to continue protesting against the alleged abduction of other party members. It shared, “However we will continue protest for other SMT members who were illegally abducted few days ago”.

Meanwhile on Thursday, PTI chief Imran Khan had announced country-wide protest against “gross human rights violations being committed against the PTI”. Earlier, the Lahore High Court (LHC) had ordered the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to recover and produce Mashwani before court on April 3.

Furthermore Justice Aalia Neelum issued the order on a habeas corpus petition filed by Mashwani’s brother Mazhar-ul-Hassan. Petitioner’s counsel Azhar Siddique told the court that Mashwani was kidnapped from outside his Township residence on March 23 and since then his whereabouts were not known.

Moreover “Mashwani is a law-abiding citizen and entitled to the fundamental rights including the right of individuals to be dealt with per law in respect of liberty and security of a person”, the counsel submitted.

The counsel alleged that the federal and provincial governments were using FIA and the police as a tool against the petitioner’s brother. He said the Green Town police registered an abduction case on a session’s court order. However, no progress could be made.

He submitted that if he was not recovered from the ‘illegal and unlawful detention’ of the respondents, the petitioner and his detained brother would suffer irreparable loss and injury. The counsel requested the court to order Mashwani’s recovery from the alleged illegal custody of the FIA and set him free.
