PTI to Challenge Punjab Defamation Law in Court

Bhachar emphasized PTI’s solidarity with journalists and its commitment to challenging the defamation law in court.

LAHORE: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has announced plans to contest the Punjab Defamation Act 2024 in court. Opposition leader Malik Ahmed Khan Bhachar revealed this decision in a statement on Sunday.

Bhachar criticized the Punjab government’s first 100 days, highlighting issues such as the enactment of the defamation law and the failure to purchase wheat from farmers. He accused the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) of aiding the passage of the defamation act, despite its democratic claims.

Bhachar also criticized the Punjab government’s budget allocation, pointing out the disparity between the Rs30 billion announced for a cancer hospital and the mere Rs300 million actually allocated. He further accused the government of rebranding PTI’s health and farmer card initiatives as their own.
