PM Kakar takes swift action to ensure urea fertilizer availability

To maintain a buffer stock, it was announced during the meeting that a total of 2 million metric tons of urea would be imported.

Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar, in response to concerns about urea fertilizer availability, chaired a meeting to address the issue. During the meeting, Kakar assured that there is an ample supply of urea in the country to meet agricultural requirements. Expressing concern over hoarding and illegal profiteering, he directed the initiation of legal proceedings against those involved in such practices, emphasizing that those exploiting farmers would face consequences.

The meeting, attended by key caretaker officials including Finance Minister Dr Shamshad Akhtar, Energy Minister Muhammad Ali, Minister for National Food Security Dr Kausar Abdullah Malik, and Minister for Trade Dr Gohar Ejaz, focused on ensuring a trouble-free supply of fertilizer to farmers. Kakar urged strict supervision of the demand and supply of fertilizer and directed relevant federal ministries to assist provincial governments in controlling hoarding. The caretaker prime minister stressed the importance of transparency in providing details about the demand and supply of fertilizer.
