Broad Peak Tragedy: Rescue Teams Search for Murad Sadpara’s Body

GILGIT:The Pakistan Army has conducted a rescue operation to recover the body of climber Murad Sadpara from Broad Peak on the second day of efforts. A six-member rescue team has transported Sadpara’s body to the Japanese Base Camp, and it may take up to five more hours to bring the body back to the main base camp.

Sadpara was seriously injured at Camp 1 after being struck by a falling rock during his expedition on the 8,047-meter-high Broad Peak.

Murad Sadpara was also leading a campaign to clean K2.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has expressed deep sorrow over the death of the Pakistani mountaineer and extended her condolences to his grieving family.

Kiani has requested the army to deploy four climbers from Skardu to the “crampon point” on Broad Peak to assist in Sadpara’s rescue. She also urged everyone to keep Sadpara in their prayers for his safe return to Skardu.

Alpine Club of Pakistan Secretary Karrar Haideri confirmed that both Sadpara’s family and Ms. Kiani had reached out to the army for help. He expressed optimism that the rescuers would reach the injured climber by morning and thanked the army for their swift response to the situation.
