University Delegation Discusses Scientific Cooperation with Pakistani Institutions

ISLAMABAD: A high-level delegation from Ningbo University, led by Academician Zhao Yufen, a Member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Director of the Institute of Discovery Technology (IDDT) at the university, visited Pakistan to enhance scientific and technological cooperation between institutions of China and Pakistan.

The delegation’s visit, which coincided with the annual meeting of the COMSTECH Consortium of Excellence (CCoE) in Islamabad on January 22, aimed to foster deeper ties in science, technology, and higher education between the two countries. During the event, Academician Zhao presented traditional medicine to leaders from the higher education sectors of OIC member countries, promoting cross-university collaboration to increase global competitiveness in science, health, and education.

The Ningbo University delegation held discussions with officials from several Pakistani institutions, including Hamdard University, the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), and the University of Lahore. The meetings focused on expanding cooperation, particularly regarding a project involving seven traditional medicinal plants—such as Withania somnifera, Tribulus terrestris, and Moringa oleifera—that were sent to China’s space station for research. The talks also addressed space breeding technology, the development of traditional medicine, and the training of scientific research talent.
