Macquarie University Students Gain Insight into Pakistan’s Socio-Economic and Political Landscape through Interactive Session with High Commissioner
Canberra: The High Commission for Pakistan in Canberra welcomed a delegation of students and faculty members from Macquarie University, Sydney, for a dynamic and interactive session with High Commissioner H.E. Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri. The visit provided an enriching opportunity for the students to delve into Pakistan’s diverse socio-economic and political landscape, its strategic significance, foreign policy objectives, and multifaceted diplomatic relations.
The group, comprising graduate, postgraduate, and PhD students from various faculties including law, arts and social sciences, information technologies, international relations, media, and creative arts, engaged in a stimulating dialogue with High Commissioner Chaudhri. He delivered a comprehensive overview of Pakistan’s rich demographics, promising economic trajectory, and pivotal role in regional and global affairs.
High Commissioner Chaudhri’s address was followed by an interactive question-and-answer session, during which the students eagerly sought insights on Pakistan’s foreign policy, socio-economic development, political landscape, and bilateral relations with Australia.
Emphasizing Pakistan’s commitment to peace and security in the region, High Commissioner Chaudhri highlighted the importance of just resolution of outstanding disputes for durable peace, including the Jammu and Kashmir dispute. He underscored the centrality of United Nations Security Council Resolutions guaranteeing the Kashmiri people their legitimate right to self-determination.
Furthermore, High Commissioner Chaudhri shed light on Pakistan’s economic potential, citing its rich natural and human resources, untapped mineral reserves, demographic dividend, and burgeoning Information Technology sector. He also discussed the multifaceted nature of Pakistan-Australia diplomatic ties, emphasizing collaboration and mutual benefit.
