Khawaja Saad Rafiq Condemns NAB Law, Calls it a “Black Law” Enacted by Dictator

The government recently amended the NAB Ordinance, increasing the remand period to 40 days.

LAHORE: Former federal minister and Muslim League (N) leader, Khawaja Saad Rafiq, has criticized the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) law, labeling it as a “black law” crafted by a dictator.

Taking to a social networking website, Khawaja Saad Rafiq expressed his disdain for the NAB law, stating that it has been misused by various military, civil, and judicial dictators for their political agendas, leading to the victimization of innocent individuals.

He emphasized that such a draconian law cannot be supported, denouncing the recent amendment that extends the physical remand period from 14 to 40 days. Khawaja Saad Rafiq described this extension as a regrettable move and called for its withdrawal, asserting that suspicious legislation is always inappropriate.

The government recently amended the NAB Ordinance, increasing the remand period to 40 days. Additionally, under the NAB Amendment Ordinance, the punishment for NAB officers involved in filing malicious cases has been reduced from 5 years to 2 years.
