Kashmore District Plagued by Rising Crime, Protests Enter 12th Day
Golo Tribe Protests Police Inaction, Blocks National Highway
Kandhkot-(Zaheer Malik)- Protesters from the Golo tribe blocked the National Highway near Zorgharh stop in Kandhkot, Kashmore district, for 6-8 hours on Tuesday. They demonstrated against the district police’s failure to recover two abducted community members, Ahmed Deen Golo and Abdul Ghafaar Golo.
The protest which lasted for over 6 to 8 hours caused severe traffic jam on the artery. Hence the movement of traffic at National Highway (NHA) road came to grinding halt with numbers of vehicles which were stranded on both sides of road. On occasion the protesters shouted slogans against the district police for completely failing in protecting the life and the property of the citizens.
The demonstrators told to newsmen that police had not managed to recover abductees namely Ahmed Deen Golo and Abdul Ghafaar Golo who had been kidnapped from the limits buxaur police station. Later local police negotiated with protesters breaking off the protest and restoring the traffic.
On other hands, the protest of All Party Movement (APM) on tuesday entered 12th day, the demonstrators were carried play cards and banners in their hands while chanted full – throated slogans against police inability to maintain law and order situation throughout Kashmore.
The protestors Dil Murad Dahani, Ghulam Mustafa Mirani, Zuriat Bijrani, Sajaad Brohi, Wali dino sindhi and others complained that the law and order of district Kashmore is going bad to worse each passing day while district police were not doing anything to curb the crime throughout Kashmore.
They demanded from Cheif Minister Sindh, Local MNAs and MPAs, IGP, DIGP larkana and other law enforcement agencies to take immediate notice of this issue, redress grievances of masses and take stern action local criminals and goons who had ransacked the entire area . It is noteworthy to add here that district the witnessing an alarming rise in crime particularly kidnapping cases, demanding extortion, robberies, snatchings and others have become order of the day.
Owing to worsen law and order the hindu families of Kashmore district have been migrating to India and other countries, although the businessmen no longer want to invest here. Meanwhile district Kashmore is stronghold of Pakistan’s leading political party, Pakistan People’s Party, despite that over the past few months kidnappings, robberies, dacoties, snatchings and other street crime have become a significant challenge for the Sindh government especially district.
