Karachi and Sindh Prepare for Heavy Rainfall and Flooding
The Meteorological Department has issued an urgent alert about a developing cyclone in the northeastern Arabian Sea, located about 250 kilometers east-southeast of Karachi.
Currently, the system is categorized as a deep depression and is drifting slowly west-southwest. Favorable environmental conditions suggest it may intensify into a cyclone.
Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfraz explained that while the system is moving slowly at present, it is expected to strengthen as it progresses further into the sea. “The system is likely to gain strength and become a cyclone by tomorrow morning as it encounters more favorable sea conditions,” Sarfraz said.
The storm, which has been named Cyclone Asna by the Pakistan Meteorological Department, is anticipated to bring heavy rains and strong winds to various districts in Sindh and Balochistan.
