ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court Tribunal has scheduled early hearings for election petitions from the city’s constituencies.
In a significant move, the tribunal has approved requests to expedite the hearings, ensuring timely resolution of the cases.
The Election Tribunal has called upon Tariq Fazal Chaudhary and Raja Khurram Nawaz to appear on July 8. Justice Tariq Mahmood Jahangiri has also summoned officials from the Election Commission for the next hearing.
The requests for early hearings were filed by Shoaib Shaheen and Ali Bukhari, aiming to accelerate the judicial process in these crucial election-related matters.

IHC writes letter to “X” in tracing Leaked Data of Justice Babar Sattar
ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court has taken decisive steps in the contempt of court case involving Justice Babar Sattar, focusing on the leak of personal data.
Following directives from the Larger Bench of the Islamabad High Court, the High Court Registrar has penned a crucial letter to the Chief Legal Officer of a major social networking site “X” through diplomatic channels. The letter, facilitated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Pakistani High Commission in the US, requests cooperation in identifying the source of leaked personal data belonging to Justice Babar Sattar and his family.
Judicial sources reveal that the letter urges “X” to provide necessary information to Pakistani investigative agencies. It emphasizes that voluntary cooperation from “X,” including sending a representative to the High Court, would be highly appreciated.
The letter highlights the leakage as a significant breach and calls for assistance in tracing the accounts responsible. It also seeks cooperation in determining if the incident was part of an organized effort, potentially linking to external entities.
Citing “X’s” previous cooperation with the UK and Indian governments, the letter attaches details of accounts identified by Pakistani investigators, aiming to swiftly resolve this breach.
This development marks a proactive approach by the judiciary to safeguard privacy and address digital security challenges.
High Court Forms Bench to Hear PCB Scrutiny Committee Chairman’s Removal Case
PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court has constituted a special 2-member bench to hear a petition challenging the removal of the Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Scrutiny Committee.
During the hearing, Justices SM Aitaq Shah and Mohammad Ijaz Khan were appointed to preside over the case. The petition argues that the removal of Arbab Altaf as Scrutiny Committee Chairman, allegedly by PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, was unlawful and detrimental to cricket affairs.

The petitioner’s lawyer argued that Naqvi’s appointment was unauthorized and had negative implications for Pakistan cricket.

After considering arguments, the court adjourned the hearing until July 12, signaling a thorough review of the case and its implications for PCB governance.
