Imran Khan Directs Delay of PTI’s Planned Event in Islamabad
PTI Announces New Date for Islamabad Rally, Now Set for September 8
On Thursday, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Gohar Ali Khan declared that the scheduled public gathering in Islamabad would be postponed.
Joined by PTI leader Azam Swati, Khan told the media that the event’s delay was decided based on directives from PTI founder Imran Khan.
The political climate remains tense as PTI had initially planned a rally in Islamabad, despite the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration revoking the permit for the event late last night. This led to heightened security measures across Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
Containers have been strategically positioned around the Red Zone, blocking all access routes to the area. Security has been tightened across both cities, with only government employees allowed to enter the Red Zone upon presenting their office IDs.
Meanwhile, the second day of the Pakistan-Bangladesh Cricket Test match is taking place in Rawalpindi, further complicating traffic in the area. To ensure the safety of players and spectators, Murree Road near the Cricket Stadium has been closed to regular traffic.
In light of the security situation, the Islamabad administration declared a holiday for educational institutions across the city.
New Date for PTI Gathering Announced
Azam Swati revealed that the PTI public gathering has been rescheduled for September 8. He urged all PTI supporters to return home, as directed by Imran Khan.

The ICT administration has proposed September 8 as the new date for the gathering and has issued a No-Objection Certificate (NOC) in the name of PTI leader Aami Mughal. The NOC also cautioned participants against using anti-state or anti-religion slogans.
PTI had planned a rally in Islamabad today, but Motorway Ravi Toll Plaza in Lahore was closed on the Islamabad side, with traffic being diverted to Babu Sabu Chowk, Sagian, and Ring Road.
Lahore’s Chief Traffic Officer (CTO), Amara Athar, advised citizens to check the route plan before traveling and provided a helpline (15) for assistance.
A large contingent of Lahore Police was deployed at Thokar Niaz Baig, where PTI’s women wing workers had gathered to join a caravan heading to the Lahore rally.
