IHC Demands Justification For Travel Ban On Sic Chief

Chief Justice Farooq remarked that the travel ban appears to be a mere act of harassment, noting that political leaders who leave the country generally return.

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court has demanded responses from the Interior Secretary and other relevant parties regarding the petition to remove Sunni Ittehad Council chief Sahibzada Hamid Raza from the travel ban list.

Chief Justice Amir Farooq presided over the hearing, questioning the rationale behind Raza’s inclusion in the Exit Control List (ECL). During the proceedings, Deputy Attorney General Syed Ahsan Raza was called to the rostrum.

Chief Justice Farooq remarked that the travel ban appears to be a mere act of harassment, noting that political leaders who leave the country generally return. The court has adjourned the hearing until next week, seeking detailed replies from the concerned parties.
