Haris Zeb Becomes First Pakistani-Origin Footballer to Play in FIFA Club World Cup

Karachi: Haris Zeb, a 23-year-old footballer born to Pakistani parents in New Zealand, has made history by becoming the first player of Pakistani origin to feature in the prestigious FIFA Club World Cup.

Zeb, who recently signed with Auckland City FC, began pre-season training with the team after joining from Birkenhead United. Auckland City secured its spot in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup after winning the 2024 OFC Champions League.

The 2025 tournament, which will take place in the United States, will see Auckland City compete against top European, South American, and Portuguese clubs, including Bayern Munich, Boca Juniors, and Benfica.

Zeb, a left-winger, has previously played for New Zealand clubs such as Christchurch United and Miramar Rangers. His remarkable journey from New Zealand to the global stage highlights his potential, and he remains hopeful of making an impact for the Pakistan national team in the future.

Born on May 15, 2001, Zeb holds dual citizenship and was called up to the Pakistan national team for the 2023 Four Nations Cup in Mauritius, but an injury prevented his participation. Despite this setback, Zeb has expressed his readiness to represent Pakistan in future competitions. His inclusion in the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup will be a proud moment for Pakistani football fans worldwide.
