Govt Expands PM Youth Loan Scheme to Support Employment Abroad & Education

ISLAMABAD: In a major boost for Pakistan’s youth, the federal government has announced an expansion of the Prime Minister Youth Loan Scheme, now extending financial support to individuals seeking employment abroad. This initiative is aimed at assisting young people with travel, training, visa, and initial settlement costs, offering loans of up to Rs1 million. The move comes as part of the government’s commitment to providing young individuals with better economic opportunities, helping them compete in the global job market.

Chairman of the Prime Minister Youth Program, Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan, emphasized the importance of empowering the youth to take on international opportunities. He stated that the government is focused on creating avenues that will improve the future prospects of young Pakistanis and enable them to contribute meaningfully to the country’s development.

In addition to the overseas employment loan expansion, the government has introduced a facility for young individuals to obtain loans for purchasing laptops. This initiative, aimed at enhancing educational and professional development, will provide students aged 18 to 30, enrolled in Higher Education Commission (HEC)-approved institutions, with the opportunity to acquire laptops to meet their educational needs.

Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan highlighted that this initiative would play a key role in improving access to technology, fostering skills development, and promoting educational progress across the country. This move is in line with the government’s broader goal to enable youth to contribute effectively to national growth.

Since the launch of the Prime Minister Youth Loan Scheme, more than Rs186 billion has been disbursed, showcasing the success of the program and the confidence it has instilled in Pakistan’s young population. With additional reforms under consideration to further expand the scheme, the government aims to continue supporting youth empowerment, ensuring they have the tools and resources to thrive both domestically and internationally.

This expansion of the Youth Loan Scheme not only provides more avenues for education and employment but also serves to promote economic stability, positioning the youth as key drivers of Pakistan’s future success.
