“ECP rejects Akbar S Babar’s plea, upholds PTI intra-party elections results”

ISLAMABAD: In a recent development, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has dismissed Akbar S. Babar’s appeal for the re-conduction of the intra-party elections of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI).
The decision was announced by a five-member ECP bench, with Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja leading the proceedings. The bench, which included ECP Secretary Umar Hameed Khan, heard petitions from PTI founding members challenging the legitimacy of the recent intra-party polls.
Throughout the proceedings, the commission highlighted the clarity of Section 215 of the Election Act and ultimately rejected Babar’s plea, stating that the re-conduct of the PTI intra-party elections is not warranted.
