Cricket Board accepts Inzamamul Haq’s resignation

Earlier speaking to a private TV channel, former chief selector Inzamam-ul-Haq directed sharp criticism at Chairman Management Committee Zaka Ashraf and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

The controversy surrounding his association as a shareholder in a company recently surfaced, despite his prior resignation from the Chief Selector’s position, which occurred before the formation of the committee to which he was associated.

Subsequently, the PCB established a five-member investigation committee to delve into the team selection process and address potential conflicts of interest.

Speaking to a private TV channel, the former chief selector, who had stepped down from his position, expressed his concerns regarding the allegations raised during the World Cup. He lamented that the board had not initiated an inquiry at that time, and they are currently unresponsive to his attempts at communication. Moreover, he mentioned that it had come to his attention through television reports that his resignation had not been accepted.

Criticizing Zaka Ashraf, he remarked on the chairman’s initial four-month tenure, which had been subsequently extended by an additional three months. Haq emphasized that he was not the one at fault and raised questions about the decision-making process.

Regarding the investigation committee formed by the cricket board, he explained that his resignation had been prompted by their actions. He also highlighted the tendency for non-players to criticize the team when its performance falls short and subsequently distance themselves from the situation.

In defense of his association with SAYA Corporation, the former test captain clarified that the company manages both players’ affairs and his own. He underscored that SAYA Corporation holds the approval of the International Cricket Council (ICC) and operates as a tax-paying entity, with comprehensive records that support its legitimacy.

Inzamam-ul-Haq clarified the details of his association with the Yazoo company, shedding light on its inception in the year 2000. The company was established with the intention of manufacturing children’s bicycle helmets. However, Inzamam emphasized that no transactions or business activities were initiated through Yazoo.

Inzamam explained the sequence of events concerning his appointment and the contractual matters. He stated that he assumed the role of Chief Selector in the ninth month of the central contract, which was originally contracted in June.
