Attack on Under-Construction Dam in Panjgur Leaves Five Dead
Unknown assailants escape after fatal shooting; security forces launch search operation in Prome area.
Panjgur-(Special Correspondent): Unknown attackers launched an assault on a dam under construction in the Prome area of Panjgur district. According to Balochistan Levies, a paramilitary force, five individuals were killed in the shooting, while the assailants fled the site before forces could intervene.
Security forces have since cordoned off the area and initiated a search for those responsible.
In a prior incident in August, armed assailants intercepted a convoy of vehicles, including a passenger bus, traveling from Punjab and opened fire, killing 23 people in the Rarasham area of Tingri tehsil, located 72 kilometers from Musa Khel district in Balochistan.
The attackers stopped vehicles on the national highway and shot at passengers in a method reminiscent of earlier incidents in which laborers were targeted and killed in the southwestern province.
A substantial number of Levies and police personnel arrived at the scene. Officials reported that the victims’ bodies were transported to a hospital before being returned to their hometowns in Punjab, where thousands of mourners gathered for the burials.
