Apple Launches ‘Invites’ App for Digital Event Invitations in Pakistan
ISLAMABAD: Apple has unveiled a new iPhone application, ‘Invites,’ designed to modernize the way people send event invitations as Pakistani urban communities increasingly move away from traditional hand-delivered cards in favor of digital alternatives.
The app addresses the growing trend of digital invitations in cities, where traffic congestion has made personal card deliveries more difficult. Many families are opting for simple templates shared via messaging platforms like WhatsApp, but ‘Invites’ offers a more sophisticated solution.
The new application features customizable event planning tools, allowing users to select background images from their own photo library or from the app’s gallery, as well as incorporating location details through Maps integration. Additionally, the Weather app provides forecasts for scheduled events, helping hosts and guests plan accordingly.
‘Invites’ also leverages AI-powered tools, such as Image Playground for custom image creation and Writing Tools for composing event messages. Hosts can manage RSVPs and control how much event information, like venue addresses or background designs, is visible in invitation previews.
Guests can view invitations through the iPhone app or via a web browser, without the need for an Apple account or iCloud+ subscription. The app further enhances the experience by allowing attendees to contribute to a shared photo album and share Apple Music playlists.

The launch of ‘Invites’ comes at a time when Pakistani urban communities are finding a balance between upholding traditional customs and embracing modern technology. While hand-delivered cards remain a significant part of the culture, especially for weddings and other celebrations, the shift towards digital solutions is becoming more prominent.
The app is now available for download from the App Store and can be accessed through a web browser at icloud.com/invites, marking a new chapter in the way Pakistanis plan and share event invitations.
