PM Kakar condemns absurd Kashmir Ruling, urges global accountability
Decades-Long Struggle: Kashmir Seeks UN Resolution Amid Ongoing Indian Oppression
MUZAFFARABAD, ISLAMABAD : Prime Minister Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar of Azad Jammu and Kashmir has stated that the Kashmir issue remains an incomplete agenda for the United Nations. He emphasized that the issue requires a resolution within the framework of the United Nations, and accused India of enacting illegal legislation in occupied Kashmir. Kakar called the recent decision by the Indian Supreme Court regarding Kashmir absurd, illegal, and unconstitutional, asserting that India cannot escape international responsibility through legislation.
Addressing the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Prime Minister Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar expressed gratitude for the invitation to speak in the Assembly, becoming the first Prime Minister to be invited to address the legislative body of Azad Kashmir.
He remarked that the Kashmir issue has been seeking resolution within the United Nations for the past seven decades. The Kashmiri people continue to face Indian oppression and brutality in the occupied territory, and the Kashmir issue is a recognized international dispute. Even today, millions of Kashmiris are under illegal Indian control, and since 1948, the Kashmir agenda remains incomplete according to international resolutions. The resolution of the Kashmir issue lies in accordance with the decisions of the United Nations.
Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar also mentioned that just three days ago, the Indian Supreme Court issued an illegal and unconstitutional decision on the Kashmir issue. According to the United Nations, the Kashmir problem can only be resolved through the self-determination of the Kashmiris. He labeled the Indian Supreme Court’s decision as an attempt to perpetuate its control over the region and emphasized that the ground realities cannot be changed by whimsical judicial decisions.
He further stated that the dreams of subduing the Kashmiris through the use of force will never be realized, and Pakistan fully supports the freedom movement of the Kashmiri people. The use of pellet guns by Indian forces has resulted in the loss of sight for thousands of Kashmiris. When will the voices of Kashmiris be allowed to be heard, and how long will India continue its state terrorism?
Prime Minister Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar emphasized that the world must strive to play its role in resolving the Kashmir issue, highlighting that progress and prosperity are impossible in an atmosphere of fear and coercion. Kashmir is the lifeline of Pakistan, and Pakistan will continue to play its role in the just resolution of the Kashmir issue. He called on Pakistani leaders to stand in solidarity with the leadership of Kashmir, asserting that Pakistan has made repeated efforts to resolve all issues, including the Kashmir dispute, through dialogue, while India has resorted to deceit.
