No one be allowed to politicize wheat subsidy: CM Gilgit-Baltistan

Gilgit – In the second session of the consultative meeting on wheat subsidy, Chief Minister Gilgit Baltistan Haji Gulbar Khan emphasized that he will never allow anyone to politicize the wheat subsidy. Under the special instructions of the Chief Minister, Provincial Minister of Food and Tourism Ghulam Muhammad chaired the meeting, attended by provincial ministers, special assistants, and representatives of the public action committee.

Provincial Interior Minister Shamsul Haq Lone, Education Minister Ghulam Shehzad Agha, Social Welfare and Youth Affairs Minister Dilshad Bano, Member of Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly Fathullah Khan, Information Technology Advisor Soraya Zaman, Special Assistants Iman Shah, Maulana Sarwar Shah, Hussain Shah, Zabihullah, Secretary Food Usman Ahmed, Director Food Muhammad Akram, and others participated on behalf of the provincial government. Provincial Planning and Development Minister Raja Nasir Ali Khan joined the meeting through video link. Leaders of the Awami Action Committee, including Yasoobuddin, Fida Ali, Kausar Hussain, Masoodur Rahman, Ghulam Abbas, Rahmatullah, and others, were also present.

During the session, Food Minister Ghulam Muhammad and Secretary Food Usman Ahmed provided a detailed briefing on the wheat issue, outlining the steps taken by the provincial government for transparent delivery and distribution, including contacts at the federal level. The provincial government and the People’s Action Committee mutually agreed to expedite consultations for a sustainable solution to the wheat issue. They aim to formulate a strategy to address the wheat subsidy matter in the broader interest of the region, steering clear of political maneuvering.
