Lahore: Punjab Assembly can’t be dissolved till January 11, Speaker Sibtain Khan said today. During an informal conversation with media reps at Zaman Park, he said the governor transgressed his authority through the illegal order against the elected CM and the provincial cabinet. The Punjab Assembly passed a resolution against the Punjab governor’s act to de-notify CM yesterday.
According to the source, the session presided over by the PA speaker, came as the Lahore High Court took up Parvez Elahi’s petition against the order. Sibtain said he would go to court if he is summoned. The opposition withdrew the no-trust motion against CM; he said adding that the motions against the speaker and deputy speaker have not been withdrawn.
As per details he stressed that Article 130 Clause 7 states that the Governor shall convene a new meeting in which a vote of confidence shall be called.
