Chaudhry Yasin and Aamir Yasin Win Major Libel Suit in UK High Court

UK Court Orders Abrar Qureshi to Pay Over PKR 80 Million in Landmark Defamation Case

Chaudhry Yasin said:
“This is not just a victory for us, but for anyone who stands by the truth. We are grateful to the British judiciary for upholding justice.”

Aamir Yasin added:
“This verdict sends a clear message to those who spread lies and defame others—truth always prevails.”

London-(Mudassar Iqbal/Social Media)-On July 25, 2025, the King’s Bench Division of the UK High Court delivered a verdict in favor of Pakistani politicians Chaudhry Mohammad Yasin and his son Aamir Yasin in a defamation case filed against Abrar Qureshi. Presiding Judge Mrs. Justice Heather Williams DBE ruled that Qureshi had made false, baseless, and highly defamatory allegations against the claimants in a series of videos published on social media in 2021.

The court found that the accusations—which included serious claims of sexual misconduct, blackmail, illegal land occupation, and corruption—were completely unsubstantiated and intended to damage the personal and political reputation of Chaudhry Yasin and Aamir Yasin. As a result, Abrar Qureshi has been ordered to pay each claimant €130,000 in damages along with £21,829 in interest, bringing the total penalty to more than PKR 80 million. He has also been directed to cover full legal costs unless both parties agree otherwise.

The judgment further compels Qureshi to publish a summary of the court’s decision on all his social media platforms and websites within seven days. He is also permanently barred from republishing any of the defamatory material or similar content in the future.

The case, numbered KB-2022-003483, was heard over three days from July 7 to July 9, 2025. The High Court’s findings emphasized that there was no evidence to support any of the serious accusations made by Qureshi and that the claims were made with malicious intent.

Following the ruling, Chaudhry Mohammad Yasin stated that the verdict was not only a personal victory but a win for truth and justice, expressing gratitude to the British judicial system for upholding fairness. Aamir Yasin added that the decision sends a strong message to those who misuse digital platforms to spread lies and defame others.

Legal analysts have described the ruling as a significant precedent in digital defamation law. It is expected to shape future legal responses to character assassination campaigns carried out through social media and reinforce accountability for online misconduct.
