Zardari, Xi Discuss CPEC Security and Project Acceleration

BEIJING: President Asif Ali Zardari of Pakistan met with his Chinese counterpart, President Xi Jinping, in Beijing today. The meeting focused on accelerating the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects and strengthening bilateral cooperation.

President Zardari arrived at the Great Hall of the People, where he received a warm welcome from President Xi.

A guard of honor was presented by the Chinese armed forces, followed by the playing of both national anthems. A group of Chinese children offered a welcoming performance, and both presidents introduced members of their respective delegations.

The meeting between Presidents Zardari and Xi centered on the security of Chinese nationals in Pakistan and the expedited implementation of CPEC projects. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah were among those present.

Following the meeting, several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) were signed between Pakistan and China, witnessed by both presidents.

These MoUs cover cooperation in science and technology, industry, trade, and economic development. The agreements signify a broader commitment to expanding collaboration in health, media, energy, and social and economic development.
