Factory Worker Dies After Sick Leave Denied by Manager

A 30-year-old female factory worker, Mae, collapses and later dies after being compelled to return to work despite medical issues.

Bangkok-A heartbreaking incident unfolded in Bangkok, Thailand, where a 30-year-old female factory worker tragically died after her request for sick leave was denied by her manager.

According to reports from foreign media, the woman, identified as Mae, was employed at an electronics factory in Samut Prakan province. She had been diagnosed with intestinal swelling and submitted a request for sick leave from September 5 to 9, accompanied by a medical certificate.

While her initial leave was approved and she was hospitalized for treatment, Mae was discharged after four days. On September 12, she sought an additional two days off, citing that her condition had worsened due to the pressures of work. However, her manager insisted she return to work, claiming she had already taken enough time off and required another medical certificate.

Fearing for her job security, Mae complied and returned to work. Tragically, just 20 minutes into her shift, she collapsed. Emergency medical services rushed her to the hospital for surgery, but she sadly passed away the next day from necrotizing enterocolitis.

In the wake of her death, the factory management expressed profound sorrow and announced that an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident would be conducted.
