PTI Lawyer Objects to Chief Justice Presiding Over Election Tribunal Case
Supreme Court Hears Appeals on Punjab Election Tribunals Despite PTI’s Reservations
Islamabad-Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Salman Akram Raja’s lawyer, Hamid Khan, raised an objection to Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa presiding over the case concerning appeals from the Punjab election tribunals and the Election Commission.
Despite the objection, Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa dismissed Hamid Khan’s concerns.
The Supreme Court was reviewing the Lahore High Court’s ruling on the establishment of election tribunals, with a five-member larger bench, led by Chief Justice Isa, overseeing the case.
During the proceedings, Hamid Khan expressed reservations about the Chief Justice hearing the case. In response, Chief Justice Isa rejected the objection, stating that he could recuse himself if necessary.
He then instructed Hamid Khan to remain seated, assuring him that he would have the opportunity to speak later. Hamid Khan subsequently left the courtroom.
