Eid Milad-un-Nabi Festivities Across Pakistan: Federal Capital Receives 31-Gun Salute
Eid Milad-un-Nabi, the birth anniversary of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him), is being observed with profound religious devotion and respect across Pakistan. The occasion is marked by a public holiday throughout the country, highlighting the significance of the day for Muslims.
In the federal capital, Islamabad, the celebrations commenced with a ceremonial 31-gun salute, while all provincial capitals honored the occasion with a 21-gun salute. The nation is immersed in various religious observances, including recitations of the Holy Quran and prayers for blessings from the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
Security Measures and Public Safety
In response to the large-scale gatherings and processions, special security arrangements have been put in place to ensure the safety of participants. Increased security measures include enhanced protection around illuminated buildings and procession routes.
In Rawalpindi, mobile phone services have been partially suspended due to security concerns. The suspension is limited to areas adjacent to the main procession route, aiming to prevent any potential disturbances.
Sindh Province: Celebrations and Security
The Sindh government has implemented a ban on double riding throughout the province as a precautionary measure to enhance security. In Karachi, two major processions are planned: one will proceed from Tower to Aram Bagh, and the other from the New Memon Mosque in Bolton Market to Nishtar Park. These events are expected to draw thousands of participants.
To ensure the safety of the processions, a significant security presence has been deployed in Karachi. A total of 4,716 security personnel are on duty, including 15 Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs), 27 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs), 648 NGO staff, 3,735 constables, 51 female officers, and 31 police mobiles along with 40 motorcycle police officers.
Punjab Province: Enthusiastic Celebrations and Security Preparations
In Lahore, the birth anniversary of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) is being celebrated with great enthusiasm. Streets and markets have been elaborately decorated, and processions and gatherings are ongoing throughout the day.
Across Punjab, there are a total of 2,467 Mawlid celebrations and processions planned, which include 1,581 gatherings. To ensure public safety, police and counter-terrorism officials will be deployed to oversee the events and monitor sensitive areas.
In Faisalabad, CCTV cameras have been activated, and control rooms have been established at the divisional level to oversee and coordinate the processions and celebrations across the province.
Prime Minister’s Message on Eid Milad-un-Nabi
Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has emphasized the importance of not just reading about the life of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), but also following his teachings in both letter and spirit. In his message on 12th Rabiul Awwal, 1446, he highlighted that addressing contemporary challenges requires adhering to the vision and principles of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).
The Prime Minister extended his greetings to the entire Muslim Ummah, particularly the people of Pakistan, on the occasion of Eid Milad-un-Nabi. He urged the nation to embody the Prophet’s teachings, stressing the importance of supporting the vulnerable, prioritizing those in poverty and hunger, and fostering a spirit of assistance and compassion.
He remarked that today marks the celebration of the day when Allah Almighty bestowed divine guidance upon humanity through the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), illuminating the path for mankind until the Day of Judgment. The Prime Minister underscored that the Prophet’s virtuous life, exemplary character, and noble teachings continue to serve as a guiding light, inspiring and enlightening individuals throughout their lives.
President’s Call to Embrace the Prophet’s Teachings
President Asif Ali Zardari has called upon the nation and the global Muslim community to adhere to the teachings of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) as a guiding principle to overcome present-day challenges. In his message on 12th Rabiul Awwal, 1446, he extended his greetings on the Prophet’s birth anniversary and highlighted that the Prophet’s life is a model for guiding every aspect of human life.
President Zardari emphasized that the Holy Prophet (PBUH) established a just society where every individual, regardless of wealth or social status, could live with dignity. He noted that the Prophet’s teachings encourage followers to speak out against oppression and support marginalized groups, which is essential in today’s world marked by division and injustice.
The President stressed the importance of spreading the Prophet’s message of love, tolerance, and human rights. He highlighted that the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) treated all individuals with respect and dignity, regardless of their faith. Embracing this spirit, he urged the promotion of global brotherhood, justice, and compassion.
He further noted that the Holy Prophet (PBUH) will always be a source of guidance, and the occasion of 12th Rabiul Awwal serves as a reminder of the transformative message that turned darkness into light. President Zardari called for disseminating the Prophet’s message of love and compassion, highlighting that his life exemplifies service to humanity, from caring for orphans and supporting the poor to tending to the sick.
