Sahiwal police arrested a total of 8 members of 03 gangs in the last month

DPO Sahiwal Faisal Shahzad while talking to the press representatives said that last month the police took action against the anti-social elements.

Sahiwal: Sahiwal police arrested a total of 8 members of 03 gangs in the last month of March and recovered more than 26 lakhs worth of stolen property from the accused.
Action against drug dealers
Last month, Sahiwal police registered a total of 162 cases and arrested 164 accused while conducting operations against drug dealers and liquor dealers, from whose possession 65 kg of hashish, 2.5 kg of opium, more than 1 kg of heroin and 1892 liters of liquor were recovered.
During the operation against the liquor sellers, 18 active furnaces were recovered and 529 liters of alcohol were also recovered.
Action against those possessing illegal weapons
During the month of March, the Sahiwal Police arrested 72 accused persons while taking action against those possessing illegal weapons.
Action against advertising criminals
A total of 509 public criminals and 353 court fugitives involved in serious cases were arrested by the Sahiwal Police last month.
Until the suppression of the criminal elements, the Sahiwal Police will continue operations in the future

Sahiwal  formerly known as Montgomery, is a city in Punjab, Pakistan. It is the 21st largest city of Pakistan by population and the administrative capital of both Sahiwal District and Sahiwal Division. Sahiwal is approximately 180 km from the major city Lahore and 100 km from Faisalabad and lies between Lahore and Multan. Sahiwal is approximately 152 meters above the sea level.

The city lies in a densely populated region between the Sutlej and Ravi rivers. The principal crops are wheat, cotton, tobacco, legumes, potato and oil seeds. Cotton goods and lacquered woodwork are manufactured.

History

Following the Ummayad Arab conquest of the Punjab cities of Uch and Multan, led by Muhammad bin Qasim, Arabs of the Emirate of Multan ruled the region of Sahiwal for a few centuries. Then Sahiwal remained part of the Multan province of the Mamluk dynasty. Sahiwal also remained associated with the historic city of Depalpur.
