Lahore High Court Questions Legal Basis of Administrative Meetings Under Nawaz Sharif’s Leadership

During a hearing at the Lahore High Court, legal representatives faced scrutiny for their petition against administrative meetings held under Nawaz Sharif’s leadership. Justice Mazhar Akhtar conducted the proceedings, questioning whether Nawaz Sharif was issuing directives under his name and signing orders himself. These queries prompted a moment of unease from the petitioner’s lawyer, prompting the court to urge him to respond to the judicial inquiries.

Nadeem Sarwar, representing the petitioner, expressed that in a press release, it was suggested to provide electric bikes and conduct underground train meetings. The court probed further, seeking clarification on the mention of a cabinet in these meetings. In response, Nadeem Sarwar presented an image purportedly depicting Nawaz Sharif’s meeting, which was met with the court’s skepticism. The court remarked that the petitioner was once again relying on baseless legal justifications, reminding him of the presence of others in the image and questioning the concrete evidence of a cabinet meeting.

The petitioner’s counsel contended that the images were sourced from the Punjab government’s website. However, the government’s legal counsel opposed Nadeem Sarwar’s request.
