Jan 30, 2019 – Islamabad, Pakistan: Prime Minister Imran Khan will tomorrow launch the innovative new Kafaalat program, which will provide small cash payments to millions of the poorest women in the country.
Coming under the umbrella of Ehsaas, the Kafaalat will realise the Prime Minister’s longstanding commitment to ‘One Woman, One Bank Account’, as all beneficiaries will be able to access the payments at special ATMs and bank branches, and will also have to option to deposit funds into a savings account.
“Tomorrow’s launch will change the lives of millions of poor women, who under previous cash-transfer schemes have been vulnerable to abuse and subject to financial exclusion,” said Dr. Sania Nishtar, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister, who will also speak at the launch. “Using state-of-the-art technology, we will ensure that women not only receive the full amount they are owed, but are also better able to plan for the future and lift themselves and their families out of poverty.”
The Kafaalt program will be launched tomorrow and is expected to benefit seven million women by the end of 2020.
