MCC thump Lahore Qalandars

Lahore: (Mudasser Chudhary) Ravi Bopara batted Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) to a started off their tour of Lahore with a four-wicket victory over Lahore Qalandars in a 20-over match played here at Gaddafi Stadium on Friday.

In the first match of Lahore tour, Bopara emerged as hero of the day from MCC as he performed a swashbuckling knock of 42 runs off 37 balls, studded with  fours and a six, as MCC chased down a 136-run target with 4 balls spare. Bopara turned into ably assisted by means of through Samit Patel, who made 31 runs from 25 balls and struck  sixes and a four.

Earlier, opener Fakhar Zaman and Lahore Qalandars captain Sohail Akhtar slammed 45 and unbeaten 40 runs respectively as MCC elected to subject after prevailing the toss and scored 135 runs for the lack of 5 wickets in allotted 20 overs. Fakhar smashed 5 fours and a six in his 36-ball stay on the crease, whilst Sohail’s 28-ball stay noticed him hit two sixes and a 4.

Besides Fakhar and Sohail Akhtar, former Pakistan captain Salman Butt may want to make a contribution 29-ball 28 runs, studded with five limitations whilst Raja Farzan remained unbeaten at 10 runs, which he amassed after playing precious 27 balls.
