Karachi Faces Water Crisis After Pipeline Damage
Over 18 Million Gallons of Water Disrupted Due to 72-Inch Pipeline Rupture
A significant power outage took place at the Dhabeji pumping station in Thatta, resulting in the shutdown of three pumps following a rupture in a 72-inch diameter pipeline.
The affected pipeline, known as pipeline number 5, is responsible for supplying water to Karachi. This incident has led to the suspension of over 18 million gallons of water to the city.
According to the Waterboard, the rupture was caused by back pressure in the system. Repair efforts are expected to take approximately 24 to 36 hours, during which Karachi may experience considerable water shortages.
Authorities are actively working to restore water supply and complete the necessary repairs to the pipeline.
